Dear
Early one morning, two of our volunteers were out for a run when something made them stop cold.
By the side of the road sat a tiny puppy.
His face was grotesquely swollen.
His eyes barely open.
He was struggling - and very much alone.
They ran back to the sanctuary, and within minutes our team returned with medicine, supplies, and that quiet urgency that comes when you know a young life is depending on you.
The puppy was treated immediately. Most likely, he’d suffered a severe allergic reaction - perhaps from an insect bite. His pain eased. His breathing stabilized. What first looked terrifying turned out to be manageable.
Today, that puppy is just fine. (He may have simply eaten a bee!)
But the story didn’t end there.
Nearby, his mother and siblings were living alongside a group of Mon construction workers. So, our team stayed. They checked the rest of the litter. They talked. They listened. And the workers agreed to keep a close eye on the dogs - and to call us immediately if anything changed. |
