It happens more often than you might imagine.

A dog is brought to us, unable to put weight on her leg. A cat arrives, crying out in pain after being hit by a motorbike. A puppy is found in the road, trembling, with an injury we can’t quite understand.

We examine them carefully. We do everything we can. But too often, we are left with one devastating truth: We don’t know exactly what’s wrong. Is it a fracture? A dislocation? Internal damage we cannot see?

Right now, when we cannot diagnose an injury, we have only one option: a four-hour journey to the nearest fully equipped veterinary clinic in Kanchanaburi. Four hours. Four hours of stress, fear, and pain. Four hours before treatment can even begin.

Sometimes, that delay makes everything worse.

With this one piece of equipment we could diagnose injuries within minutes - right here at the sanctuary, or even in the field during an emergency rescue. No more guessing. No more unnecessary suffering. No more dangerous delays.

We would know - with certainty - what we are dealing with, and how to treat it. A clean break can be set. A serious injury can be stabilized. Suffering can be alleviated. A life can be saved.

Several times each week, we face situations where an x-ray would mean the difference between waiting and helping… between uncertainty and action… between prolonged suffering and immediate care.

This is an essential piece of equipment that we need almost every single day. We just don’t have it yet.  We haven’t been able to afford it.

P.S. Right now, when an animal arrives with a suspected fracture, we are sometimes forced to choose between guessing (which we would never do)… or putting them through a grueling journey. A portable x-ray machine would change that instantly.
