In the United States, even the most basic veterinary care comes with a price tag.

• Just a routine vet visit can cost anywhere from $70 to more than $200. 
• A rabies vaccine? $25 to $75. 
• Flea and tick prevention? Another $30… every single month. 
• Spay or neuter surgery? Often $400, $500… even $800 or more. 

And that’s just the beginning.

For many of us, these are expected costs of caring for a beloved pet. But in Sangkhlaburi, Thailand - a remote, underserved region near the Myanmar border - those costs might as well be impossible.

And that’s why our clinic exists. At the Sangkhlaburi Animal Sanctuary, we provide something almost unheard of: completely free veterinary care. Not discounted. Not subsidized.

Every day, animals arrive at our doors: dogs hit by cars, cats suffering from infection or injury, puppies and kittens who would never survive without intervention, families carrying beloved pets, hoping - sometimes desperately - that help will be here.

And it is! Because if we don’t help… there is nowhere else. The nearest alternative veterinary care is over 150 miles away - a journey of nearly four hours over difficult roads. For most people here, that might as well be another world.

It means WE carry the cost instead: every surgery, every dose of medicine, every life saved. This is only possible thanks to the kindness of people like you. Because while care is free to the animals and families who need it most… it is never free to provide. And the need is constant. There is no pause. No slow season. Just a steady stream of animals who would otherwise suffer in silence.
