When people hear the word “remote,” they imagine something peaceful. Quiet. Untouched.

And Sangkhlaburi is, in many ways, exactly that.

It’s beautiful. Serene. A place where people travel to experience its stillness, its culture, its natural surroundings. Many who come here fall in love with it - and some even stay to volunteer with us. 

Because beyond that beauty, the mountains and rivers, the region - often called the “wild west of Thailand,” an “end of the road” destination - is better described as “frontier” than just remote. Our sanctuary and clinic offer the only haven and veterinary care for animals in crisis.

Dogs hit by cars and left in the road. Cats suffering from untreated illness or injury. Puppies and kittens born into hunger - starving before they have a chance to live. Animals abused, abandoned, or simply overlooked in a place where help is too far away to reach them.

At the Sangkhlaburi Animal Sanctuary, we are the only place these animals can go. Every rescue, every treatment, every life saved depends on our ability to act - quickly, and with the resources to help.
