Every single day in Sangkhlaburi, another dog or cat is abandoned. Injured. Left to fend for themselves on the streets. At the Sangkhlaburi Animal Sanctuary, we treat them. We spay and neuter. We feed them. We give them shelter and safety – often for the very first time in their lives. We are able to do all of this thanks to the generosity of friends like you.

But if we truly want a better future for the animals, we must start with the children.

Too many dogs and cats here suffer because of lack of knowledge about untreated wounds, preventable disease, endless breeding. Many people, including children, do not believe that dogs and cats feel fear and pain. Can you imagine!

This must change. And with your help, it will.

Today, I am delighted to announce that we are launching a new education program in local schools. It won’t cost much – just $850 (£633) for the entire initiative – but it will have a tremendous impact for years to come.

We’ve already designed our first poster (in English and Thai) to share with students. It explains:

• Why vaccinations matter
• Why human contraceptive injections are dangerous for dogs
• How sterilization saves lives
• The proper, gentle way to handle animals

This is just the beginning. With your support, we’ll place posters in schools and community spaces and deliver classroom kits to teach compassion and care.
