Look At What Compassion Has Accomplished!

Quarterly Newsletter – July 2025

I couldn’t wait to share what the kindness of friends like you has recently made possible here at the Sangkhlaburi Animal Sanctuary and veterinary clinic in remote Western Thailand!

Whether you’ve donated, volunteered, or simply care deeply about animals – your compassion is already part of something incredible. In just the past few months, we’ve carried out dozens of emergency rescues, performed complex surgeries that gave injured animals a second chance, and hosted life-saving spay/neuter clinics to prevent even more suffering.

From tiny, broken puppies found on the roadside… to cats battling infection and starvation… to exhausted mothers abandoned with litters to feed – they all found safety and healing because people like you care.

And it’s not just the animals who’ve been helped.

Volunteers from around the world have joined us in the dirt, in the heat, and in the kennels – walking, feeding, comforting, and loving every soul they meet. Their hands-on dedication, powered by community support, has made our sanctuary not just a shelter… but a true home.

Here are just a few of the lives that have been transformed:

Uno was our very first rescue.  A kind person alerted us to his plight – he had been rejected by his mother and was barely surviving on the streets, alone, covered in cysts and blind in one eye.  Our volunteer vets provided emergency care, and he is now a happy healthy boy living with his adoptive family in Canada!

Toby, a stray cat, dragged himself into a stranger’s yard with a shattered leg. Our supporters gave him surgery, antibiotics, and safety. Now, he’s healing and already acting like he owns the place.

Nok’s litter of eight starving puppies arrived weak and flea-ridden. With formula and round-the-clock care, every one of them survived – and many are already in loving homes.

Ruby, hit by a car, was terrified and nearly blind. After emergency treatment, nourishment, and steady love, she’s seeing more clearly each day – both with her eyes and her heart.

Gherka, just three weeks old, was attacked after mistaking the wrong mother dog. He arrived with his belly torn and intestine exposed. But thanks to people like you, he survived. Today, Gherka is a miracle in motion.

Beyond these individual stories, our supporters have created more lasting change:

  • Over 200 animals sterilized through free community clinics since March
  • More than 1,500 meals distributed to street animals in need
  • 40+ international volunteers working side-by-side with our team – bringing energy, skill, and love from across the globe

None of this would be possible without the growing circle of caring people like you.

If you’ve supported us before – thank you. If you’re new to our sanctuary – welcome. We invite you to stay with us and stand with the animals who need you most.

Together, we can save even more lives.

With deep gratitude and hope,

Denise Emsley

P.S. Whether it’s your first gift or your fiftieth, your support helps animals like Gherka, Ruby, and Toby not just survive – but thrive. Please consider donating today to help us continue this lifesaving work. Every animal we save starts with someone who cares. Someone like you.
