Another Extraordinary Quarter of Accomplishment in Sangkhlaburi

Lives Changed, Futures Protected – Your Impact Report

Every day in Sangkhlaburi, animals are born into circumstances they did not choose – injury, illness, abandonment, or simple invisibility in a place where veterinary care is nonexistent. What does make a difference is compassion backed by action.

Thanks to our supporters, our small but determined team is able to respond when calls come in and to work not only to save individual lives, but to prevent suffering before it ever begins. This past quarter is another powerful reminder of the extraordinary progress support from friends like you makes possible:

2,500+ dogs and cats spayed/neutered, preventing untold suffering before it began!

3,000+ meals provided to street dogs and cats!

Just a few other highlights, and updates…

Fuen has a forever home!

Fuen arrived at our clinic as the tiniest (just half a kilo, less than a pound), most fragile of nine newborn puppies – so sick that we were begged to put him to sleep. Instead, our team fought for him, even restarting his heart during surgery (hence his name – which translates to ‘resuscitate” in Thai), and today little Fuen is thriving with his adoptive family because we refused to give up. Only thanks to the kindness of friends are MIRACLES like this possible. Fuen is SO cute!

Kevin Good Boy

We’re thrilled to share that one of Sangkhlaburi’s own rescue dogs, Kevin, now has a beautifully written children’s book celebrating his journey from jungle life to a loving forever home. Adopted by volunteer vet team Miguel and Veronica, Kevin’s story touched so many hearts that Veronica’s mother, Paola Fantuzzo, wrote and published “KEVIN: GOOD BOY – from jungle life to a place called home” and is donating all profits to support our sanctuary so we can continue rescuing and healing animals just like Kevin. Paola’s book is available on Amazon. – Click here

Preventing Suffering Before It Begins

Since our founding, spay and neuter has been at the heart of our mission – preventing suffering before it begins.  Recently, our team completed an intensive four-day clinic, sterilizing 197 dogs and cats in some of the most remote Karen Hill Tribe villages.  The Karen communities are found deep in forested terrain, connected by rough, pathetically inadequate roads and narrow mountain trails. There are no veterinarians. No clinics.  As a result, dogs and cats reproduce unchecked – leading to suffering, disease, and growing pressure on the fragile forest ecosystem and local wildlife.  Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, we are able to provide this vital service free of charge.

Pedals not planes

Extraordinary!  Two veterinarians, Dr. Bart and Dr. Inga, bicycled more than 8,300 miles across 16 countries over 223 days – from Belgium all the way to Sangkhlaburi to help animals in need. When they finally arrived, tired but smiling, they went straight to work, bringing their skill, compassion, and commitment to the dogs and cats who depend on this sanctuary every day in our remote community.

New ambulance is SAVING LIVES!

After nearly a year of searching, we are thrilled to have secured a modern, fully equipped rescue ambulance capable of reaching injured and critically ill animals across remote rural terrain – a lifesaving upgrade from the motorcycles our team previously relied on to respond to emergencies on dark roads and in distant villages. This dependable vehicle will allow veterinarians to arrive with proper equipment, transport animals safely, and dramatically improve survival chances for dogs and cats in crisis. This milestone was made possible entirely through the trust and generosity of supporters, turning what was once only a dream into a now deployed reality.

These few updates are not exceptions – they are the direct result of consistent, compassionate support from people who believe that every animal’s life has value.

As we move into the coming months – and mark our FIVE-YEAR ANNIVERSARY on May 1 – the needs here remain urgent. Emergencies will come without warning. Remote villages will still lack access to veterinary care. Puppies and kittens will continue to be born into hardship unless we can reach them in time.

If you are able, please consider donating to help sustain this lifesaving work. Whether it’s a one-time contribution or a dependable monthly gift, your support ensures that when the next animal needs help, we can act immediately.

Thank you for standing with the animals of Sangkhlaburi. Your generosity is not just appreciated – it is felt, every single day, in lives saved and suffering prevented.

With heartfelt gratitude,

P.S. We embrace Martin Luther King’s philosophy with all our heart: “Never, never be afraid to do what’s right, especially if the well-being of a person or animal is at stake.”  Your gift today could be the reason the next injured dog or abandoned kitten gets help instead of silence. Thank you SO much.
