I couldn’t wait to share what your kindness has made possible at the Sangkhlaburi Animal Sanctuary and clinic over the past few months.
Together with volunteers from around the world, we’ve faced heartbreak, celebrated healing, and taken bold steps toward an even brighter future for the animals of Western Thailand.
Life-Saving Care in Action
Since July, our dedicated team and volunteers have carried out almost 225 sterilizations through free spay/neuter clinics. Many of these were held as special outreach camps in remote areas – places too far for local people to bring their animals on their own. These efforts not only prevent countless unwanted litters but also ease the suffering of street dogs and cats who have no one else.
In addition to the clinics, our team has continued to perform difficult surgeries – a dog with a massive tumor, a cat with a dangerous hernia, and even a poisoned cat. Thanks to swift care, all are safely back in their homes. Our biggest joy? Watching little Gherka, once torn and near death, stand on his own for the very first time!
We’ve distributed nearly 4,500 meals to hungry street dogs and cats.
Of course, not every story ends happily. Holidays in Thailand often bring an increase in road accidents, and too many animals don’t survive the journey to us. These moments strengthen our resolve to continue searching for a dedicated animal ambulance – so that distance and lack of transport will never again be the reason an animal doesn’t get a second chance.
Education: Changing the Future
We believe lasting change must begin with children. That’s why we’ve been preparing a new animal welfare education program for local schools – complete with posters and materials explaining why vaccinations, spay/neuter, and kindness matter.
We’re also thrilled to continue our partnership with Children in the Forest, ensuring the next generation grows up seeing animals as friends who feel fear, pain, and joy – just like us. This is how we’ll break the cycle of neglect and suffering once and for all.
