From Lonely Streets To Loving Arms – A Life Transformed.
Somjud’s Journey Made Us Cry. YOU Made It Possible!
There are some stories that remind us exactly why we do this work. Somjud’s is one of them. I’ve told you part of her story before…
She was the gentle little, orange-spotted dog who lived outside the local 7-Eleven in Sangkhlaburi. Friendly to everyone. Always wagging her tail. Living on scraps and kindness from passing strangers.

When we first met Somjud, we brought her to the sanctuary clinic to be spayed – then returned her to the only “home” she had ever known. We thought she’d be safe.
But street life is fragile.
One day, Somjud was sleeping beside the road, her back legs dangling slightly over the curb. A passing car struck her.
Everything changed in an instant.
She was rushed to our clinic in terrible pain. We fought to save her leg, but the injuries were simply too severe. Amputation was the only way to save her life.

And then something beautiful happened.
During her recovery, two volunteers from England – Megan and Owen – fell completely in love with her. At first, it was simply affection. Then attachment. Then something deeper.
Before returning home to England, they came back to the sanctuary and spent two weeks with Somjud. They slept beside her every night. The three of them became a family long before the paperwork was finished.

Months later, Somjud began the greatest journey of her life. First came the long eight-hour car ride from remote Sangkhlaburi to Bangkok. Then a 12½-hour flight to Paris. Megan and Owen met her there, and together they continued by ferry and car all the way to Brighton, England.

A dog who once survived on scraps outside a convenience store… now sleeps safely in bed with her family. A dog who once lay injured beside the road… now walks along beaches with people who adore her. A dog who once had nobody… now has everything.

THIS is what your support makes possible. Not just rescue – transformation.
Not just survival – joy.
At the Sangkhlaburi Animal Sanctuary, we do not believe an animal’s worst moment should define the rest of their life. We believe loneliness can become love. Fear can become trust. Tragedy can become triumph.
And yes – sometimes we cry when we see it happen. We cry when frightened dogs realize they are finally safe. We cry when a street dog takes her first nap in a real home. We cry when we watch an animal who had nothing discover what love feels like.
These moments matter. And they only happen because compassionate people like you stand beside us. Every surgery. Every rescue. Every bandage change. Every meal. Every adoption journey across oceans and continents – supporters make it possible.
Somjud’s story began on the streets of Sangkhlaburi.
Today, it continues in a forever home and on the beaches of England.
Thank you for making journeys like hers possible.
Please, continue to help us change lives.
With heartfelt gratitude,

PS: Tonight, Somjud is probably curled up safely beside her new family after a walk on the beach. No more hungry days. No more cars whizzing by. A future that once seemed impossible is now Somjud’s LIFE. Thank you for helping us turn tragedy into joy – over and over again.
