Nueng’s Wound was HORRIFIC – Maggot Infested! She was in Excruciating Pain…

ONLY Thanks to Donor Support Were We Able to Help Her!

For days, nobody could find her.

We received a call from a local woman just across the Songkalia River. She had seen a dog wandering the streets with a horrific wound and was deeply concerned. Of course, our team immediately went looking. But the dog was nowhere to be found.

A week later, we received another call. This time it was a teacher from the local Mon school who had spotted the same injured dog. Once again, our team rushed out. And once again, she had disappeared.

We could not stop thinking about her. Somewhere in the village, a dog was suffering.

Somewhere, a wound was growing worse. Somewhere, a frightened animal was enduring pain alone. So, our team started knocking on doors. House by house. Family by family. We asked anyone who might have seen her.

And finally, we found the answer! Not in the village itself, but in a simple home far beyond it.

An elderly woman lived there. A woman with very little of her own, who had devoted her life to caring for elderly people who had nobody else to care for them. And living there were two dogs – twin sisters. One of them was the dog we had been searching for. The woman’s name for her was “Nueng,” which means “One” in Thai because she was born first.

When we finally saw Nueng up close, our hearts sank.

The wound was far worse than we had imagined. The kind of wound that causes terrible suffering. The kind of wound that cannot heal without help.

Yet the woman caring for her had never ignored her pain. She simply didn’t know what to do. She had no idea that free veterinary treatment was available through the Sangkhlaburi Animal Sanctuary. When we explained that we could help, she was SO relieved. She asked if we could take Nueng to the clinic and care for her until she recovered. Without hesitation, we said yes!

Back at the sanctuary clinic, the full extent of the injury became clear. For hours, our team worked to clean the wound. Maggots had infested the damaged tissue. Every one of them had to be carefully removed.

The wound was flushed, cleaned, treated, and medicated. Nueng received antibiotics. She received pain relief. And slowly, something wonderful began to happen. She started healing.

The photographs may still look shocking, but what they show is actually progress. Healthy tissue is forming. The infection is under control. The wound is closing. And every day, Nueng is growing stronger.

Without supporters like you, dogs like Nueng would have nowhere to turn. No clinic. No treatment. No hope. Instead, because caring people choose to help, our team can answer the phone when a worried villager calls. We can travel into remote communities. We can search for animals who have fallen through the cracks. And we provide life-saving treatment completely free of charge.

Today, Nueng is on her way to a full recovery.

She has returned home to the woman who loves her and to her twin sister who has been waiting patiently for her return. And now that family knows exactly where to find help whenever they need it.

This is the difference your compassion makes. This is what we DO! Not just for one dog. But for every animal who would otherwise suffer unseen.

Please donate today – in any amount or currency – to help us continue reaching dogs like Nueng.

With heartfelt gratitude,

PS: We searched for Nueng for more than a week before finally finding her. By then, her wound had become badly infected and infested with maggots. Thanks to supporters like you, we were able to bring her to safety, treat her pain, and start her on the road to recovery. Your gift today will help ensure the next dog or cat in desperate need receives the same chance.
