No Animal Should Suffer Because Help Is Too Far!

Our veterinary care is reaching deeper into jungle communities… SAVING LIVES!

There are moments in rescue work when minutes truly matter. A dog hit by a truck on a dark highway… a cat lying injured beside the road… a terrified animal suffering alone in a dark alley or remote village hours away from help of any kind.

For years, helping animals in these situations was incredibly difficult for our team. We did everything we could with the limited transport available, often loading supplies onto motorbikes, traveling on dangerous roads late at night – desperately trying to stabilize injured animals before they slipped away.

But now – everything has changed!

Thanks to the compassion and generosity of animal loving friends like you, the Sangkhlaburi Animal Sanctuary was finally able to purchase and equip a dedicated animal ambulance – recently equipped with a portable x-ray machine.

It is hard to overstate the impact this is having for animals across our region!

Now, when an emergency call comes in during the middle of the night, we can respond faster, farther, and far more safely. When an injured dog cannot survive a many-hour journey for diagnostics, we will be able to perform x-rays on the spot. Now, when entire groups of dogs and cats at temples or in jungle villages need care, we can bring treatment directly to them.

And that is exactly what happened recently at the distant Three Pagodas Pass.

Located on the Thailand-Myanmar border, Three Pagodas Pass has been an important crossing point for centuries. Traders, travelers, armies, and refugees have all passed through this rugged and historic area. Even today, it remains remote, isolated, and difficult to access – especially for animals needing veterinary care.

Recently, we received a call from a woman living there who needed help.

She cares for 17 dogs. (When we first made out way to the area months ago, and she had only 10. But as so often happens in places without accessible veterinary services, the number quickly grew – nearly doubling.)

The dogs needed vaccinations, deworming treatment, flea and tick care. Bringing that many dogs to our clinic one by one would have been nearly impossible. So instead, our team loaded the ambulance with medicines, equipment, vaccines, and supplies… and traveled directly to her.

Thanks to the ambulance and portable medical equipment, we were able to treat all the new dogs in one visit. We will return again to administer second vaccinations to the puppies and asses sterilize those who are old enough.
