This Gentle Cat’s Eyes Could Not Be Saved – But Her Life Could!

Sometimes, the kindest act is also the hardest.

For 12 years, this beloved cat was part of a family here in Sangkhlaburi. Her name is Muela Hngi – we believe it means “so cute that you want to squeeze her.” She grew up in a traditional Thai home surrounded by children, love, and care. Her owners had raised her since she was a tiny kitten.

But then came devastating news.

Our volunteer veterinarians discovered that she was suffering from severe glaucoma and irreversible damage in both eyes. She would never see again – and worse, she was living in constant pain.

At first, her owner could not bear the thought of removing both eyes. Who could? But after time, tears, and difficult conversations, she made the brave and compassionate decision to end her suffering. Without surgery, this sweet cat would have endured unimaginable pain until the end of her life.

Thanks to the existence of our free clinic – and the generosity of supporters like you – Muela Hngi received the operation she desperately needed. Both eyes were safely removed. Her sutures have now been taken out, her wounds are healing beautifully, and most importantly…

She is happier. So, is her family…
