Education May Be the Most Powerful Tool We Have…
HELP US Build a Kinder Future for Dogs and Cats!
Every day at the Sangkhlaburi Animal Sanctuary, we treat animals suffering from injuries, illness, starvation, abuse, and neglect. In our isolated border region of western Thailand, it is heartbreakingly common to find puppies, kittens, dogs, and cats with nowhere else to turn.
But rescue and care alone is not enough.
To truly reduce suffering, communities need access to INFORMATION.
This is why we have begun placing educational posters in schools and throughout the local community. These posters share simple but life-saving messages about animal care, kindness, sterilization, vaccinations, and responsible treatment of dogs and cats.

And in a place where veterinary services are virtually nonexistent outside our sanctuary and clinic, this education matters enormously.
Several posters explain things many people here have simply never been taught:
– Why spaying and neutering prevents enormous suffering
– Why puppies and kittens should not be abandoned
– Why vaccinations protect both animals and people
– Why animals need clean water, food, and shelter
– Why kindness matters
– And why cruelty and neglect have lasting consequences
Some posters encourage families to seek help for injured animals rather than leaving them to suffer. Others explain how uncontrolled breeding creates more starving dogs and cats living on the streets. Some focus on rabies prevention and the importance of vaccinating pets. Others simply teach children that animals feel pain, fear, hunger, and love – just like we do.
These may seem like basic lessons. But in remote communities where access to veterinary education has never existed, these lessons can save lives.
A child who learns compassion today may become the adult who rescues an injured dog tomorrow. A family that understands sterilization may prevent generations of suffering. Someone who learns the importance of vaccines may help protect an entire village.
This is how long-term change begins.
Sangkhlaburi is a beautiful place – jungle-covered mountains, winding roads, villages near the Myanmar border, and communities far removed from large cities. But for animals, “remote” often means danger. It means no veterinarian nearby. No emergency clinic. No hope.
