Coco was struck by SEVERAL cars and LEFT TO DIE on the road.
She can’t see or smell. But she can heal and be loved. Please help!
When one of our friends from was driving home recently, he watched in horror as several cars struck a dog in the road ahead of him. He stopped immediately.
The dog was writhing in agony.
He called Chain – one of our team members at the Sangkhlaburi Animal Sanctuary, who had a car – and Chain rushed to the scene and brought the dog to our clinic. It was well after hours… but thankfully the whole team was still there.
We searched for obvious injuries and found only a graze beneath her eye. That suggested she’d likely been hit on the head.
What shocked us even more was her condition. She was fully grown – yet weighed just 12 pounds. Skin and bones. Starving. We placed her in isolation after emergency treatment so she could rest and begin to recover. And we gave her a name – probably the only one she has ever had: Coco.

For days, Coco was hand-fed tiny meals four times a day. Then we carried her into the garden. At first, she could only walk in circles. A few days later, she managed to walk straight.
But our hearts sank when we realized the truth: Coco was completely blind.
And then we noticed something else – something devastating for any dog. She had lost her sense of smell. When food was placed in front of her, she couldn’t locate it at all. That’s why our staff are still hand-feeding her, meal by meal, day after day. We are hoping – praying – that at least some of her senses will return with time.
But one thing is certain: She can never go back to where she was found. She would surely die on that busy road. So, Coco now has a permanent home at the sanctuary. We already have one blind dog here – Frank – and we hope, when Coco is strong enough, that they can live together. But before that can happen, she must gain at least 20 more pounds.

That will require months of careful feeding. Medical monitoring. Safe housing. Dedicated staff time
And for all of this we depend deeply on our supporters.
